Bonjour tout le monde!
I have a favour to ask! Could you please help out by helping your child remember to come to school with a pencil? I can absolutely lend supplies when they are forgotten, but some students are regularly coming without this basic tool and it would be great to get them in the habit of bringing their required materials to school. Many students already do so :) I appreciate your help!
Have you heard of Kids United? It is a fantastic option for your child's daily 15+ minutes of French input! You can read more about this group of children here and can easily find their music on YouTube. I highly recommend searching for videos that are accompanied by lyrics - your child can help develop their fluency by singing along. I can personally attest to the value of this type of learning - it was how one of my professors structured part of our oral French course.
Looking for access to more high-interest books in French? Scholastic orders are available in the classroom and due November 28th. And don't forget those visual dictionaries - full of useful phrases and vocabulary that should be regularly used in the classroom.
Although we had originally scheduled our science "MCAT" for this Friday, I have decided to push it to Monday, November 13th. Students should prepare for this evaluation by reviewing the primary functions and organs of the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems at home. They have a review sheet and questions for each system and have had several periods to work on them in class. There will be bonus questions on the nervous system! In the meantime, we have two important themes on which to focus: Treaty Recognition Week and Remembrance Day. Students will be furthering their reading comprehension and decoding skills with texts about treaties, and writing texts related to Remembrance Day. They will continue to focus on meaningful spoken interaction in French and listening comprehension.
Merci!
