Ma trousse de référence
Grade 7 and 8 students have begun to create grammar kits that we call "Ma trousse de référence" ("My Reference Kit"). The kits consist of recipe cards containing basic grammar conventions. Students make use of these kits, which are kept in the classroom, to assist them when they are reading or writing.
Currently, the kits have information about Les articles (articles, which are used to introduce a noun - un/une/des, le/la/les, mon/ma/mes, etc) and Les verbes au présent (the steps for conjugating regular verbs in the present tense) and Les verbes irréguliers au présent (the conjugations of common irregular verbs). As we cover more grammar conventions, students will receive new information for their kits.
Students are encouraged to read and process the information on the kits, and to use them to help their writing. If used properly, they are an effective tool for writing with correct grammar. Students are expected to have a basic understanding of the grammar rules included in their kits, since we review the concepts each time we add a new document and complete activities in class that require them to apply the concepts.
